The three levels of self-aware self-awareness are not very important. It’s a personal choice that makes all the difference in how we experience life.
The reason we are aware of our own behavior is because we have a personal agenda from the outside that causes us to be aware of it. We are not aware of our own agenda because we are not self-aware. The fact that we aren’t aware of any personal agenda is the main reason why we are unable to control our behavior.
The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
This is what happens when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them we control us.
That explains why we’re usually so self-conscious about our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions. Because we’re not even aware of the fact that we’re on autopilot, we don’t know what our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions are doing. That’s why we are so self-conscious about ourselves. We don’t know why we are doing what we’re doing.
But when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot we no longer control them they control us. So we can’t exercise a little meta-cognition and say, “Hmm… every time my sister calls me and asks for money, I end up drinking a lot of vodkas. That might not be a coincidence,” a person with self-awareness just hits the bottle and doesnt look back.
The more we think about ourselves, the more we feel unsure of ourselves. We are so self-conscious that we forget, we no longer control, we control us. A person with self-awareness is able to exercise a little meta-cognition and say, Hmm every time my sister calls me and asks for money, I end up drinking a lot of vodkas. That might not be a coincidence, a person with self-awareness just hits the bottle and doesnt look back.
The point is that all those unconscious people at the beach are not so much a problem of their own but rather the problem of being on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot.
This is a very common problem that is so deeply ingrained in our culture that it is nearly impossible to break out of. If you’ve ever tried to quit smoking, you know just how hard it is. It’s also a lot less fun, as it is like trying to convince yourself that you are doing it wrong.
I think the best way to overcome this is to give yourself the option to consciously stop. I really like the idea of an app that tells you when you’re on autopilot and makes it easy for you to consciously choose to stop. The idea is that every time you start a new habit, you’ll automatically check in with your app to see if you can get rid of it.
